CA uploads, you accept
You add your CA on the portal; they upload the report with their DSC; you approve it from your account.
Then file the return
The audit acknowledgement is quoted in the return, so accept the report before filing the ITR.
The exact portal sequence
The flow on the income-tax portal is: you add your CA under ‘My CA’ with their membership number and assign the relevant form; the CA prepares Form 3CA/3CB-3CD, uploads it with a valid digital signature, and submits; the form then appears in your ‘Worklist’ for approval, where you accept or reject it — acceptance also needs your digital signature or e-verification. Only an accepted report counts as filed, and its acknowledgement number is quoted in your return. A report left unaccepted in the worklist is treated as not filed, which can attract the 271B penalty, so confirm the acceptance status before the deadline. Both you and your CA need active registrations and, for company and audit cases, valid digital signatures registered on the portal — an expired DSC is a common last-minute snag, so check it well ahead of the date.
