Two databases to check
Before settling on a name, check it against two sources: the MCA company/LLP name search (to avoid an identical or near-identical existing entity), and the trademark register (to avoid clashing with a registered mark). A name available at the MCA can still infringe a trademark, so checking both matters.
The naming rules
The name must not be identical or too similar to an existing name, must not be undesirable or use restricted words (without approval), and must carry the right suffix (‘Private Limited’, ‘LLP’). A distinctive, coined name is far more likely to be approved than a generic descriptive one. The naming rules are detailed — confirm before applying.
Reserve it — an example
Example: you want ‘Apex Tech’. The MCA shows several similar names and there’s a registered trademark — so you pick a coined alternative like ‘Zentryo’, confirm it’s clear in both databases, and reserve it through SPICe+ Part A. Proposing two options improves your odds. Getting the name right upfront avoids a rejection that delays incorporation. Our team can do the search and reservation.
