What is FCRA registration and who needs it?

Short answerFCRA (Foreign Contribution Regulation Act) registration lets an NGO legally receive foreign donations. Without FCRA registration or prior permission, an organisation can’t accept foreign contributions. It’s granted by the Ministry of Home Affairs and is separate from income-tax registrations.
