Can I switch between the old and new regime every year?

Short answerIf you’re salaried with no business income, you can switch between the old and new regime every year when you file. If you have business or professional income, you can move to the new regime but switching back to the old is restricted (broadly a once-only choice). Tell your employer your choice each year so TDS matches.

Salaried: switch yearly

You can choose afresh each year in your return, even if your employer deducted TDS under the other regime — it’s reconciled when you file.

Business income: restricted

Once you opt out of the new regime, going back is limited, so plan it carefully. Confirm the current rule (Form 10-IEA).
