Does DPIIT recognition give me tax exemption automatically?

Short answerNo. DPIIT recognition by itself doesn’t give you a tax holiday. It makes you eligible to apply for the 80-IAC exemption, which is a separate application approved by the Inter-Ministerial Board. Recognition does, however, directly give you angel-tax relief on share premium.

Recognition vs the tax holiday

The 80-IAC tax holiday is a second, separate step — you apply for it after recognition and it must be approved by the IMB.

What recognition gives you straight away

Angel-tax relief on share premium and self-certification under labour and environment laws apply from recognition itself.
